Education was Hangzhou native Jack Ma’s first love and he plans to devote more time to it since stepping down as Chairman of Alibaba in October 2019. Apart from injecting money into South China Morning Post, he has led the e-commerce giant into the entertainment business, investing in Huayi Brothers Media Corporation. China’s richest person in 2020 is also one of the most generous through his wide-ranging Jack Ma Foundation.

Having co-founded tech powerhouse, Tencent, 21 years ago, Pony Ma is now the second-richest man in China, with a fortune of more than US$36 billion. The visionary behind QQ and WeChat holds a degree in computer science from Shenzhen University and began his career as a programmer at paging service CMMobile. Tencent has invested in gaming, owning 40% of Epic Games, and has shares in Tesla Motors and Snapchat parent company, Snap.

Tania Mohan recently celebrated the 21th anniversary of her apparel brand, Tabla. The barrister and former fashion editor, whose family founded an eponymous department store in India in the 1950s, opened the ethnic-inspired luxury clothing and accessories store in Prince’s Building in 1999. Mohan often hosts VIP shopping days for charity, with the Hong Kong Cancer Fund being a cause close to her heart.
