<p>I approach songwriting by weaving narratives that reflect my personal experiences while aiming to authentically connect with my audience. The emotional depth in my songs is designed to resonate with listeners, allowing them to feel understood and validated in their own journeys.</p>

<p>Born and raised in Hong Kong, my identity reflects a rich tapestry of diverse cultures. This multifaceted background is evident in my music, which seamlessly integrates emotionally resonant pop with influences from R&amp;B, soul, and house. My upbringing in an ethnic household shaped my creative process, allowing me to express complex emotions and experiences through my songs, creating a sound that deeply resonates with audiences.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">You’ve spoken about the importance of creating space for underrepresented voices through your philanthropic efforts. How do you see your role in fostering inclusivity and representation within the music industry?</h3>



<p>During the challenging times in 2019 and also with the emergence of COVID-19 in Hong Kong, I initiated philanthropic efforts aimed at creating platforms for talented local teenagers to showcase their voices and skills. It was about creating space—a place where young individuals, especially those who felt unseen, could share their stories and feel heard. This effort highlighted the significance of community and representation, which I see as a crucial part of my role in the music industry.</p>

I am not merely creating music; I am building a world in which women and individuals from diverse backgrounds can finally see themselves reflected. <p><strong>Recent ultra-luxury project transactions</strong></p>



<p>A duplex unit at Summit has recently sold for $162.28 million, or a price of $69,439 per square foot. This luxury residential skyscraper located at the Peak has been held by the Company for investment for a long time. Hang Lung’s recently fully refurbished Summit is expected to be completed in mid-2025. The project will be retained as investment property for long-term rental.</p>



<p>“I would like to emphasize that for Hang Lung, we do not have an urgency to sell. We just sell properties at the right price to the right buyers,” said Lui. “We have also sold two houses in 2024 in 23 – 39 Blue Pool Road at a transacted price of $230 million and $250 million, respectively,” he added.</p>

<p><strong>Market sentiment resilient</strong></p>



<p>Despite the short-term improvement in the residential property sector, the future direction of Hong Kong’s property market is expected to hinge on several factors, including the pace of interest rate cuts, economic revival of Hong Kong and mainland China, and the scale of housing supply glut and the impact of geopolitical risks.</p>



<p>On the other hand, demand and pricing levels in Hong Kong’s luxury residential property market are expected to remain resilient, due to limited new supply of luxury residential properties and pent-up demand from mainland and overseas buyers arriving through various government initiatives. “We believe the luxury market would be better or outperform in the short to medium term, because of the limited supply,” said Lui.</p>

<p>A spate of audacious break-ins and smash-and-grab raids at luxury premises is threatening to dim Hong Kong’s well-earned reputation as a beacon of low crime. Although the city is still hailed among the safest in the world, a five percent increase in the number of crimes recorded last year has put the spotlight on beefing up security for homes, stores and businesses.</p>

<p>A daring early-morning robbery at Ginza Xiaoma in Central sent shockwaves through Hong Kong last November. After smashing into the premises, thieves took just a few minutes to grab more than 60 Hermes handbags from the 17th-floor retail outlet, having seemingly waltzed past building security. In an earlier frightening raid at an Emperor Watch &amp; Jewellery store in Tsim Sha Tsui, knife-wielding intruders confronted staff and swiped a HK$22 million jade necklace.</p>

<p>Just last month two tailor shops in Tsim Sha Tsui were burgled, with a reported HK$3 million in cash and gold snatched. The thief reportedly forced the door open in the first shop, then stole the key to enter the owner’s neighbouring store.</p>

<p>Deluxe residences have also been targeted in Sai Kung and elsewhere in the New Territories – possibly because they are seen as relatively easy pickings. Public figures are not immune from burglaries, either. The home of former Hong Kong police chief Andy Tsang was broken into while he and his family were away, and the mansion of tycoon Cecil Chao has been targeted twice, with millions in cash and valuables taken.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Extra Vigilance</h3>



<p>While stressing that Hong Kong is still a relatively safe city, Parth Shah, CEO of jade atelier Fyoro, admits: “Recent events do make us think more about safety and being more vigilant. One does need to be more aware and have colleagues trained for any incidents.” He adds: “Stores on the retail level or the ground floor tend to be slightly more vulnerable.”</p>

<p>Fyoro is on a higher floor in a secured building. “We have a full security system, including safe vaults that are strong,” says Shah, noting that heavy doors, vaults and enforced walls are all essential in his business.</p>

<p>Since insider information is often used to breach security during robberies, he advocates diligence when hiring staff, providing proper training, and limiting access to valuables to only a few highly trusted individuals. Having advance knowledge of the security systems in place, as well as scouting the area and observing staff routines are typical modus operandi for thieves.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Higher Insurance</h3>



<p>Insurance is a concern for those owning high-value businesses, and Shah indicates that premiums and deductibles have increased. “We have taken on higher insurance measures, and the compliance and paperwork required for this is much more stringent [than before],” he notes. “Also, it is essential that one ensures that the outsourced systems and inhouse security systems are combined to be compliant with insurance requirements.”</p>

<p>As a provider of precious jadeite jewellery and luxury gifts, Fyoro operates on an appointment-based model. “This means we have relative control over foot flow,” says Shah. Higher-value items receive increased security provision: “We have differentiated methods of storing and layering in security, depending on the value. We also have additional in-office security features. We have a checklist and system of how goods are stored every day.</p>

<p>“Anyone [viewing] goods in our office would have at least two cameras watching [them], in addition to further security layers. But we have to keep it discreet.”&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Safe and Secure</h3>



<p>Ramped-up security can still be aesthetically pleasing, according to Kevin Man of Manton Security. For instance, Man notes that today’s sophisticated security features can seamlessly match the architectural heritage of the building. Munitus, a purveyor of bespoke security doors and windows, tailors security levels according to clients’ needs – bullet-proofing is available. US company Brown Safe specialises in luxury home and jewellery safes that can not only ably withstand severe attack – some were designed for the military – but also come with exotic interiors.</p>

<p>“We also do strong rooms for clients – these are like panic rooms and can also act as a safe,” says Man. “They have nice finishing inside and can come with a hidden door, meaning people don’t realise [they are installed].”</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Automated Protection</h3>



<p>Given the increasingly sophisticated technology used by bad actors to bypass protections, Shah outsources this aspect of his company’s security to a specialised firm. “The main vulnerabilities in terms of software would be from their end,” he says.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Artificial intelligence can also be used to assess potential risks with clients, alert owners of red flags, and integrate with the police or the authorities. “But AI software would need to be matched with hardware that is also strong and evolving,” he advises.&nbsp;</p>

<p>ImageDeep founder Niall Dorr, who has been providing automated security solutions for 20 years, advocates AI-driven security systems that offer 24/7 vigilance without human vulnerabilities. For instance, equipping luxury homes with AI cameras and perimeter sensors, and watermarking art and jewellery collections. “If intruders attempt a quick getaway, our system issues audio warnings and notifies police within seconds, while watermarking ensures recovered items are returned,” he says.</p>

<p>An AI-driven anomaly detection system should also pick up on pre-raid reconnaissance via drones or loitering, and will counter signal mimicry with encrypted access controls.</p>

<p>For jewellery stores, Hong Kong-headquartered ImageDeep can install smoke screens to disorientate thieves and prevent theft; implement biometric access for storerooms; and provide inventory tracking to prevent smash-and-grab raids or internal theft. “Our systems have protected high-value retail, reduced risks and secured insurance benefits,” says Dorr.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Reducing Shrinkage</h3>



<p>He suggests firms employ technological solutions to combat the problem of internal theft, also known as shrinkage. “Use biometric authentication – fingerprint or facial recognition – and encrypted key-card systems to restrict access to areas storing valuables, such as safes, storerooms or display cases,” he explains. “Our AI surveillance tracks access in real time, logging entries with video evidence to ensure accountability. In Hong Kong’s luxury market, where items have high-unit values, even small losses can result in substantial financial impact.”</p>

<p>He also warns that poor tracking can lead to losses, especially for businesses with large inventories of luxury goods, like car dealerships or jewellery retailers. Implementing IoT-enabled inventory tracking with RFID (radiofrequency identification) tags and cloud-based analytics to monitor valuables from production to sale or storage is recommended. “This ensures real-time visibility, prevents accidental losses, and flags discrepancies instantly, reducing shrinkage,” he says.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Watermarking Deterrent</h3>



<p>Invisible, non-obtrusive watermarking of high-value items like jewellery, watches or even vehicle components will aid traceability, which is critical for recovery and deterrence. “Our invisible watermarking embeds unique codes on luxury goods, ensuring 100 percent accuracy in tracing stolen items back to the owner or store,” says Dorr.</p>

<p>This can be backed by prominent signage to deter potential thieves, informing them that stolen goods can be traced and their risk of conviction is increased. “This is especially effective for both home collections and retail inventory,” he notes.</p>

During the prize-giving ceremony, Alcaraz addressed Sinner directly: ”Jannik, it is an amazing level you have. I know how hard you are chasing this tournament and every tournament. It is a privilege to share the court with you and make history together. You are an inspiration.” Turning to the crowd, he continued: “This tournament is so special to me, and I cannot wait to come back year after year.”</p>

The 21-year-old navigated the challenging conditions with resilience, composure and steadfast determination, coming back from a set down to seal a 6–7, 6–2, 6–4 victory on Court Philippe-Chatrier. <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why are you attracted to the fragrance industry and reinvigorating the Indult Paris brand?</h3>



<p>First of all, I&#8217;m a collector, and I&#8217;m passionate about perfumes. I never intended to buy a perfume company.</p>

<p>Indult Paris chose me. I didn&#8217;t choose Indult Paris. Manakara chose me. I didn&#8217;t choose. And so, I managed to fall in love.</p>

<p>And then when I heard that these perfumes no longer existed and I had bought the last remaining bottle, I spoke to the master perfumer, who is Francis Kurkdjian, and he used the phrase – “yes, these were my four masterpieces.”</p>

<p>That had me thinking – what does he mean by masterpieces? Surely every perfume is a masterpiece? Then I suddenly realized that there was no accountant behind him; he had a white piece of paper, and he just went for it. And he came out with these things. No one was telling him what to do. You have freedom to do whatever.</p>

<p>And then it struck me that I had to preserve this legacy. And so, I&#8217;m just the caretaker. That&#8217;s all. And I bought it back into the market. They are cheaper today than they were several years ago because I wanted to enlarge the market.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What is the brand philosophy of Indult Paris and how do you position it amid the competitive landscape of the fragrance industry?</h3>



<p>There are a lot of brands out there. And of course, Indult Paris had chosen me. And over the years I&#8217;ve learned that what I&#8217;m actually doing is quiet luxury. It&#8217;s not shouting out like a Dior or Chanel, it&#8217;s quiet luxury.</p>

<p>It is for people who want to wear a perfume and walk into a room and automatically know that no one else is wearing it and they are unique. They don&#8217;t have to shout. It&#8217;s very discreet and under the radar. But a beautiful perfume by a master perfumer that everybody should know who knows about perfume.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What are your thoughts on the potential for these fragrances to thrive commercially in Hong Kong and Asia?</h3>



<p>L&#8217;Oreal did a market study and it showed basically worldwide sales and in Europe it is a strong market, but it&#8217;s stagnant. It&#8217;s not growing. Middle East is growing at around 12%. But in Asia Pacific, it is growing at 23%.</p>

<p>What does that actually mean? It actually means that people are looking for us, for niche perfumes, in the Asia market. It means the Asia market is actually changing and they are discovering perfumes from Italy and from France that they would not normally have access to. But it&#8217;s through independent shops and independent perfumeries and pop up stores, the smaller ones, like Scented Niche, that people are being educated. And it&#8217;s very, very important that people get to know that they can have a choice, an option other than designer brands.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Are French brands particularly appealing in the perfume sector?</h3>



<p>They are very much, both historically and traditionally. We are very appealing and we are becoming more appealing to the Asian market as their tastes and individuality grows within them.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How did you pick the master perfumers to collaborate with?</h3>



<p>Well, this time it was totally an accident that I discovered that the one Manakara bottle was done by Francis Kurkdjian. And then the others just followed, when I picked up the company. I never smelt the others when I bought the company because they didn&#8217;t exist anymore, they were all sold out, and I apparently had the last bottle of Manakara in my collection and it&#8217;s due to that.</p>

<p>But the biggest seller we have is Tihota, and a lot of people may not know Indult Paris, but they will know Tihota as a perfume. It&#8217;s a reference point for vanilla, for other companies.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Do you intend to expand the range and enter other markets?</h3>



<p>I don&#8217;t like the word expand and potential markets. I like to reach out to people who are passionate, who want to start their perfume journeys. It&#8217;s not about money. Today they are cheaper now than they were when Francis Kurkdjian put the price on them when he had the company. So, in order to reach perfume enthusiasts and to bring the legacy, I&#8217;m just the caretaker of this brand.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why did you decide to collaborate with Scented Niche?</h3>



<p>Scented Niche is different from a lot of other shops. We collaborate with distributors who are passionate about perfumes, not about numbers. It&#8217;s this passion that sells.</p>

<p>And that&#8217;s all that we want to do. We want to be with people who are passionate or to educate people to become passionate, to start their perfume journey.</p>

<p>A pioneer in Chinese art and antiquities, the family-owned Chu’s Gallery has been present on Hollywood Road, Central, for three decades. Its public face, the indefatigable Sally Chu, is a champion of the vibrant Hong Kong art scene and launched Oneness Art Platform to embrace the increasingly contemporary art world and to be the bridge for the global and the Chinese art market. She is also Vice-President of the Starfish Art Association, which runs projects to aid artists in the spirit of Oneness.</p>

<p>Extending her energies beyond art, Chu is the author of two books and a passionate supporter of women entrepreneurs and community enrichment. Internationally, she is active in the United Nations’ Fair Pay Foundation, which aims to achieve equity and justice in labour practices, and recently received a United Nations Peace Award. She is also enthusiastic about the wellness economy, blockchain projects and collaborating with visionary entrepreneurs in the global market.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How has your background in art influenced your outlook on life?</h3>



<p>Through my experience in the art world I have realised the ways in which traditional art is valuable and full of meaning in this challenging world. That’s why I created a series of digital art with masters and young artists for the Oneness art platform.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What fascinates you about the Hong Kong art scene?</h3>



<p>Hong Kong is an incredible place, so vibrant and dynamic. It offers us countless opportunities for cultural and spiritual growth and it’s a city that thrives on creativity and connection.</p>

<p>In Hong Kong, we have witnessed a remarkable influx of creative talent from across the world. This diversity enriches our cultural landscape. This initiative not only celebrates creativity but also fosters collaboration and understanding among different communities.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How did your long involvement with Chu’s Gallery shape who you are today? And why did you launch Oneness Art Platform?</h3>



<p>For two generations Chu’s Gallery – and now Oneness Art Platform – has embodied my vision for spiritual and cultural harmony. &nbsp;Oneness was conceived as a platform to promote wellbeing, and it has enriched my career and the art community more generally. For instance, we have collaborated with Zhi Art Space at the Fringe Club.</p>

<p>Through Oneness I have a daily reminder that even a small wish, a single gesture of kindness, can spark a butterfly effect, rippling outward to create profound change. <p>Furthermore, we have developed a series of mentorship programs focusing on spirituality, art and life coaching. These programs aim to elevate our collective vibrational frequency, helping individuals connect with their true selves and with one another. <p>Every step of this journey, and especially those moments outside my comfort zone, working with global builders and leaders, has fed my soul in ways I never imagined.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What’s your opinion about the use of AI in art?</h3>



<p>It’s an exciting time, and we need to make sure AI is used positively and that it benefits the art world. I am also passionate about promoting spiritual art. I’m thankful that many art clubs are giving us a good opportunity to move forward from Oneness to the wider community, working with like-minded individuals with same passion and enthusiasm.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How do you see your role in helping build communities and creating a better world?</h3>



<p>Local community work and global projects have inspired me to give back to the society that has nurtured me. I believe it’s our responsibility to contribute and inspire others, just as I have been inspired.</p>

<p>Working with the United Nations on initiatives like the Fair Pay Foundation has shown me how collaboration across cultures and borders can yield transformative results for humanity. These experiences are mind-opening, revealing the vast and intricate tapestry of the human story. They remind us that culture lives not only in grand gestures but in everyday life – business, spirituality, art, smiles and the shared dreams that feed our souls.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What was your reaction to the news that you would get a peace award from the United Nations?</h3>



<p>I feel humble and incredibly honoured to have recently received a UN Peace Award. This is the 80th anniversary of the UN, so it’s especially meaningful to accept this award.</p>

<p>This moment is deeply personal for me. I want to extend my gratitude to all the mentors, friends and global leaders who have guided and supported me along this journey. <p>My main goal is to build and support something of lasting value. This could be through offering meditation classes to support the Hong Kong Cancer Fund or via mentorship and healing programmes, as well as working through NGOs, and supporting schools and universities with the Oneness team and Fun Fun Foundation.</p>



<p>My primary goal remains focused on working with global talents in art, creating art shows that promote a vision of positive living and wellbeing, and exploring the art of happiness and spiritual ambience.</p>



<p>I love Hong Kong and embrace the different cultural and religious backgrounds of people. I’m especially supportive of women, and a passionate advocate for the Wellbeing economy, ESG standards in business, and the UN’s International Fair Pay initiative.</p>

<p>Launched in 2023, <strong>The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone</strong> was a tribute to the first timepiece Jacob Arabo ever owned, a dual-time zone watch with a world map dial, gifted to him by his father at the age of 13. It was the first timepiece from The World Is Yours collection. Because of its original inspiration, the first complication featured a double time zone with two sub-dials.</p>

<p>Salman Khan and Jacob &amp; Co. Founder and Chairman Jacob Arabo have been great friends, with Khan regularly seen wearing Jacob &amp; Co. timepieces such as the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Their bond deepened when Khan learned that The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone was inspired by a watch Jacob’s father gifted him as a symbol of time’s significance and the importance of realizing your unlimited potential. Drawing inspiration from the shared story, the two visionaries came together to conceptualize a timepiece that would honour Khan’s father, legendary Indian cinema writer Salim Khan.</p>

Unlike traditional dual-time watches, this innovation allows for fully independent hour and minute setting, making it especially useful for time zones with non-standard differences, such as India’s GMT +5:30 offset.</p>

<p>If The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone represents the world from above by daytime, this is its night time counterpart. Not only is it dark, with a black case, black dial and black continent, but it glows in the dark.</p>

<p>When the lights are off, the luminescence of The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris appears. The world map is filled with hundreds of Individually applied city lights. The sub-dials feature a MAD Paris typeface, and the center small seconds look like a wheel, giving The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris its absolutely modern look.</p>
